Last weekend, the Immucura team had the pleasure to sponsor and attend the Cancer Gala Dinner organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
The event took place in Marbella, at La Concepción de Marbella, which is the perfect place for special celebrations like this. The space offers endless idyllic corners and areas embedded in a centenary garden, surrounded by palm trees, turning every event into a day that you will remember forever.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer is a non-profit organization formed by patients, family members, volunteers, collaborators and professionals. They develop events and activities throughout Spain.
This association is built up by a team, working together to raise awareness regarding health and support and guide patients and their families, as well as funding research projects that will allow better diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The association was founded in 1953 by Jose Biosca, with the goal to help patients fight cancer on all fronts. In 1963 the association began to finance treatments for people lacking resources and provided equipments for cancer treatment. A few years later they started the first gynecological cancer detection programs and created the Scientific Foundation to promote research. They implemented home medicine caring for chronic and terminally ill patients. In 1983 The association started the campaign for early detection of breast cancer with mobile units and began smoking prevention programs.
In 1993, it offered psychological care, help to quit smoking, telephone assistance and palliative care at home as well as opening the first residence for children with cancer. In 2003 they worked in comprehensive care for cancer patients and started the colon and skin cancer prevention campaigns. The declaration of rights of patients was signed and the first camp for children with cancer was born. A decade later, they created the Cancer Observatory and got the anti-tobacco law approved, and the association was already the private entity that allocated the most funds to cancer research. Finally, for the present day, they incorporated new wellness services for patients and families.
Much like the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Immucura thrives to offer care and support for cancer patients. Immucura was born from a personal story, the founder Johannes Schumacher’s father developed cancer in 2014, he was not convinced by the treatment methods that were available at that time. After research, he discovered Dendritic Cell Therapy and found it to be the most promising option. Dendritic Cell Therapy is non-invasive and works on empowering the immune system to fight off cancer. Unfortunately, however, it was too late for his father but it gave him the motivation to start Immucura to be able to help others. There are better treatment options than those recommended today to most patients, and with our patients we witnessed consistent positive results from Dendritic Cell Therapy.
Immucura has continued to grow since, and recently launched the Immucura Diagnostics Program, during the Cancer Gala Dinner.
